Leading in leg and egg shell strength
Did you know that vitamin D is key to optimising calcium absorption? The rapid growth rate of modern-day poultry calls for an increase in the supplementation of essential nutrients for support of growth and health, all the while trying to maximise and achieve its full genetic potential.
Calcium and phosphorus are essential nutrients involved in many biological processes. Both of these minerals play roles in the skeleton, metabolic balance, blood clotting, enzyme activation, neuromuscular function, nucleic acids, and many more functions and processes of the living system.
What is Intra Calferol?
Intra Calferol is a liquid mixture of concentrated and stabilized Vitamin D3 alongside organic calcium and magnesium and a phosphorus releaser, which improves the ease of absorption in the animals’ intestines. This supplement keeps the animal’s calcium and phosphorus balance in optimal condition.
Liquid products are packed in white PE plastic bottles or cans with approved caps. Available in the packaging sizes below:
-
Unique all-in one formulation targeting good skeleton and egg shell formation
-
Contains phosphorus releaser to increase the bioavailability Plant materials contain a natural store of phosphorus, which are unavailable to monogastrics. The phosphorus releaser is able to free-up the natural store of phosphorus in feed. This positively affects the bioavailability to the animal and reduces excretion.
-
Stable, well-emulsified vitamin D3 for optimal uptake It is a pH-neutral product, ensuring the stability of Vitamin D3.
-
Fortifies musculoskeletal integrity Vitamin D3 is the key to homeostasis of calcium metabolism as it functions to increase calcium uptake in the bones. A vitamin D3 deficiency will lead to softened and weak skeletons and egg shells.
-
Supports the formation of high-quality egg shells and yolk colour Ensures optimal calcium regulation for production of high-quality eggs while maintaining good skeletal integrity and improving chick vitality
Application
Unique all-in-one comprehensive formulation for optimal calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium homeostasis.
Intra Calferol is a pH-neutral product, ensuring the stability of Vitamin D3. Other products tend to compromise Vitamin D3 stability with the addition of phosphorus. To ensure the stability of the product, a phosphorus releaser is added instead to increase the bioavailability of phosphorus from feed.
Does not create a biofilm in the drinking lines and is dispersed well in drinking water.
Intra Calferol is used for the following animals:
Layers and parent stock:
- 1.0 l per 1,000 L of drinking water (0,1%).
- Administer for 3–7 days during periods of challenge.
- For prevention, administer once a week
Broilers:
- 1.0 – 2.0 l per 1,000 L of drinking water (0,1–0.2%).
- For prevention, administer 3 – 7 days a week.
- Q: What is Intra Calferol used for?
A: Improve calcium and phosphorus regulation in pigs, poultry, and ruminants, thus improving laying and musculoskeletal performance. - Q: When is Intra Calferol used?
A: When there are problems with egg production, eggshell quality, hatchability (due to eggshell problems), and musculoskeletal problems. - Q: Why have we added a phosphorus releaser to Intra Calferol?
A: The combination of calcium and phosphorus in a liquid product requires a low pH to keep it in liquid form. A low pH is detrimental to the stability of Vitamin D3. To ensure a neutral pH of the product and still achieve the functionality of extra phosphorus supplementation, we have added a phosphorus releaser to increase the bioavailability of feed-based phosphorus to the animal. Thus supplementing phosphorus without sacrificing the key ingredient, Vitamin D3. - Q: Why should I supplement Intra Calferol if I already have enough Vitamin D3 in my feed?
A: The active ingredient in Intra Calferol, Vitamin D3, is a heat-, UV-, and pH-sensitive vitamin. It can break down in feed, especially if the feed isn’t stored correctly or is tainted by mycotoxins. Calcium and phosphorus regulation can also be affected by many other nutritional and anti-nutritional factors; therefore, extra Vitamin D3 is necessary to boost them.
Also, feed manufacturers are required by law to follow the minimum requirements of nutrients in feed, and supplementation is necessary for the producer to be one step ahead of the average and to achieve the genetic potential of modern poultry. - Q: Why add it to the drinking water instead of the feed?
A: Easy to control the dose and the time of application, and easy to create a personalized program for each house depending on problems. The power of performance is in your own hands. - Q: Why is Intra Calferol superior to other Vitamin D3 additives?
A: It is a pH-neutral product, ensuring the stability of the Vitamin D3. Other products tend to compromise Vitamin D3 stability with the addition of phosphorus. To ensure the stability of the product, a phosphorus releaser is added instead to increase the bioavailability of phosphorus from feed. - Q: What is the benefit of the chelated minerals?
A: The chelated minerals are more bioavailable to the animal. They are better absorbable and, therefore, better utilized. - Q: Can I combine Intra Calferol with other drinking water additives, such as antibiotics or organic acids?
A: In general, we do not recommend that Intra Calferol be mixed with other drinking water additives, as we want to ensure that the animals are getting the full amount of uncompromised Vitamin D3 that is supplemented to them.
